• 🪡Reflecting on My Experience at London Draping Studio 🪡

“I recently had the opportunity to attend a short course at London Draping Studio, and it was an incredibly enriching experience. Exploring the art of draping firsthand deepened my understanding of fabric manipulation, form, and tactile creative expression in fashion design.

A huge thank you to the talented Amy Trinh, founder and creative director of WED for sharing her extensive expertise and for creating such an inspiring learning environment. Her guidance equipped me with valuable technical skills and allowed me to gain new insights into the craftsmanship behind draping.

This experience has reinforced my passion for innovation in fashion and sustainability, and I’m excited to integrate these skills into my future work. Looking forward to exploring more in this space!”

“I just wanted to send a message to say thank you so much for the course! I feel like it has really levelled up my draping and eye for detail. Been working on a style at work and just thoughtof how different/better I have become since the course. This course was one of the most curious and accepting environments I was in. It felt like I was having the environment I wish I had at Uni. I’m so grateful for having attended this course and met the amazing people I was with. Amy created thisenvironment and couldn’t thank her enough!”

  • Weekend Course Review

"I just wanted to express my gratitude for the opportunity to attend the weekend class and learn your method of draping.

Really appreciate all your guidance and advices as it was pivotal in how to unlock my creativity that was blocked from too much technical thinking.

Approaching things your way made me realise that the ideas that spring in my mind can quickly be practiced in 3D format witch gives a better understanding of volumes, shapes and movement, stimulating creative thinking.

You created the right atmosphere for learning and exploring and your interventions were perfectly timed and very professional.

Thank you for the knowledge you shared with us and for the wonderful time we had."

  • "Amy is a lovely, patient tutor and gave direct, honest feedback as we went along that really made a difference in my work. "

I attended this 1-1 draping and pattern cutting course as a first year Central Saint Martins womenswear student in need of technical skills to be able to realise my designs. Amy is a lovely, patient tutor and gave direct, honest feedback as we went along that really made a difference in my work. She taught me the skills to create my creative designs that had a lot of problem solving involved. I really refined my toolkit from this course especially with Amy as I was so stressed about the lack of teaching I was getting at university, of which many students can relate to. Hence, doing this along side a uni project kept me on a good speed for working and allowed my garments to fit perfectly by the end.

    Overall 10/10

  • "LDS has helped me tremendously"

“Despite having some experiences in draping and pattern making, I often find it hard to execute design with draping perfectly. My course with LDS has helped me tremendously with my draping skills and reshaped the way to design. With clear explanations and hands-on draping tasks, the course allowed me to discover ways of draping, and different methods of creating texture on the bodice and unconventional silhouette.”

  • "As a founder of fashion brand..."

As a founder of fashion brand, I was inspired in a lot of ways with creative draping by the teaching from Amy, especially the ways to make flounces. She really gave me useful suggestions for draping but also the operation on my brand. She is also a very patient person, I really enjoyed the times learning with her!

  • "I highly recommend this course to anyone who is a beginner to fashion draping like me!"

“I’ve learned a lot of techniques and skills for fashion draping from the course. The hands-on approach and guidance from Amy was really helpful. She patiently explained and demonstrated how different techniques work until I fully understood. By the end of the course, I can complete toile from start to finish. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is a beginner to fashion draping like me! “

  • "As a person who never had experience in draping and pattern making, this course helped me build a fundamental understanding"

“As a person who never had experience in draping and pattern making, this course helped me to build a fundamental understanding of how garments work on our bodies. Amy guided me through the basics and allowed me to play around with new techniques, which is a very good balance of the course. Thanks to Amy and her great skills and patience I made quite a few pieces that I wouldn’t expect myself to make in such a short period. “

  • "I have learned so much about creative draping and how to make them into patterns!"

"It was very lovely to do the Technical and Creative Draping course with Amy. I have learned so much about creative draping and how to make them into patterns! The personalised teaching and direction allowed me to develop my own project into patterns. I now have a better understanding in fashion development. I am looking forward to my final year CSM Textile collection this year! It will be patterned with the creative skills I’ve learned in the class! Thank you so much!"

  • "You won't regret it!"

“I’ve learnt so many things from Amy by the time I was in the studio. Amy gave out clear instructions and guide us through all the process which helps me a lot on understanding garment construction and the process of cloth making. If you would like to learn from Amy, you won’t regret it! “

  • "Anyone with zero background or interest will be very suitable for this course!"

“As a beginner student, the whole course was very helpful for me. From the basic pattern-making knowledge to the later creative draping, the whole process is very interesting, and the 8-day course you can really learn a lot. Amy will explain very patiently, and you can always ask her for help if you have any questions. Anyone with zero background or interest will be very suitable for this course!”

  • "The experience has transformed my work style"

“I am incredibly grateful to have had Amy as a mentor, the experience has transformed my work style and strengthened my perspective as a designer. Having already been in fashion college for the past two years prior to Amy’s tutelage I entered with pre-existing ideas of my design identity, but over the course of our meetings these notions would be challenged and rebuilt from the ground up, opening me up a whole new abstract style of working, very different to my traditional fashion college training background. The course consisted of weekly draping assignments, research deep dives, and concept building exercises guided by Amy to help me think critically about my personal design narrative and contributions. She has an acutely conceptual approach to working that fights for originality and authenticity above all. Along with a sharp eye for the arts of past and present, she helped me bring out a feeling of freshness to my work every time we met for crit. It’s been almost three years since I worked with Amy and I am still evolving concepts that I originally developed from my time working with her. I would sincerely recommend it to anyone looking to challenge themselves as makers and build on ideas to excite, regardless of skill level.”

  • " I would definitely recommend Amy to all young designers"

“Amy is a talented designer. She works in a speedy and precise way. While I was working with her I have understood the importance of accuracy in pattern cutting and how small error in pattern cutting will make a big difference to the final garment. She will explain process more than once patiently until I fully understand. I remembered one time when she was teaching me how to make samples and she told me to have fun and enjoy the process. Sometimes as a student we are stuck in projects and often forget to enjoy the world of creativity I have learnt how to work in a professional manner as a independent designer in the industry and I am able to apply the skills I gained in my uni life. I would definitely recommend Amy to all young designers, it will be an amazing experience!”

  • "I had no idea how to push my thoughts into practice"

“I was struggling with my womenswear project and had no idea how to push my thoughts into practice since I had no fashion background and never studied in an art school. However, lucky me, big data sent me a post of draping course on XiaoHongShu. Without hesitation, I contacted Amy immediately and got the opportunity to learn draping techniques.

Amy is super friendly, passionate and efficient. I have learnt so much from her, not only about basic and creative draping (like making pleats, gathering) and pattern cutting techniques, but also the concept of letting techniques push ideas further. Sometimes it’s not just about how to manipulate the fabric, but also about logic.

This course was so great and opened a new portal to womenswear for me. Really recommend it!”
